About 100 people participated in a 5K today to help stop hunger in our area.
The Peyton's Promise organization hosted the walk. Peyton's Promise helps stock food pantries and raises awareness about healthy living.
The trail went throughout the Robert Monk Gardens in Wausau. Organizers say even though this was the first time the event has been held, they're looking forward to doing it again.
"It promotes awareness of places like this where you can go and support food pantries and spend some time with your family," said Peyton Medick, who created the organization.
The entrance fee to the event was bringing a jar of peanut butter. Organizers say they will be bringing the jars to local food pantries.
As temperatures in North Central Wisconsin rise, so do concerns about flooding.
