Stevens Point artist receives national attention

Q Artists Cooperative in Stevens Point features a number of local artists displaying their creations.

Their recent exhibit features artist Alexander Landerman who graduated from U.W. Stevens Point this past May.

Landerman won numerous awards while at the university for his artwork. He is the artist featured in "New Works" on display at the cooperative.

The exhibit features different bird drawings and a few portraits. He said he chose to draw birds as a remembrance to his grandmother that was a bird lover. She passed away in November.

"She was a birder, said Landerman." "So when she passed I inherited some books and some things and as part of sort of the grieving process I started drawing birds and birds for her basically."

Landerman also said that about half of his bird art has already been sold. They will be on display until the end of the month.

A few months ago Landerman was selected to stay at the Vermont Studio Center for a one month residency creating artwork. He will leave for Vermont in a few weeks.
