Crandon man pleads not guilty in sex case

CRANDON (WAOW) - A 39-year-old Crandon man accused of sexually assaulting or exposing himself to children being cared for at his mother's day care center pleaded not guilty Tuesday to six felonies.

No trial date was immediately set for William J. Anderson, according to Forest County online court records.

Anderson was charged in September with two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child and four counts of exposing his genitals or pubic areas to children in incidents that happened between January and Sept. 11, the criminal complaint said.

The victims ranged in age from four to six, the complaint said.

The investigation began Sept. 11 when a mother alerted police to possible sexual misbehavior involving Anderson after talking to her young children, the complaint said.

Anderson remained in the Oneida County Jail on a $50,000 cash bond, authorities said.
