Newman Catholic is going green

A high school is getting some help to go green.

Newman Catholic High School is now part of Wisconsin Public Service's Solarwise for Schools program. The program gives the school a new electric system.

WPS leaders say that system will cut energy costs by $4,000 each year. The school celebrated Monday with a dedication ceremony.

"It really completed the schools in the greater Wausau area as far as all of the high schools here in the Wausau area are part of the Solarwise for Schools family," said Michael Moore, the Solarwise for Schools manager.

Newman Catholic was the 49th school to be selected for the program. Funding for the program comes from WPS customer contributions.
