WESTON (WAOW) – A food drive that featured autographs by Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn collected about 700 pounds of food for The Neighbor's Place, organizers said Friday.
Another $130 in cash was donated at Tuesday's event at D.C. Everest High School, which was sponsored and coordinated by Frontier Communications in partnership with Peyton's Promise, a local organization to raise awareness about hunger.
“Frontier will match the donation with a check representing the value of the food contributed at the event,” Stevens Jones, Frontier's general manager for central Wisconsin, said in a statement Friday. "We were told that this was one of the largest food donations The Neighbor's Place had ever received."
Each person who brought a food item such as peanut butter, cereal or granola bars got to seek an autograph from Kuhn.
At the food drive, Kuhn said Packers fans are loyal to the team “so it's great to get back here and really give back to the fans.”
