Central Wisconsin women honored with ATHENA awards

The Wausau business community put the spotlight on women.

The Chamber of Commerce hosted the ATHENA Leadership Awards luncheon Wednesday afternoon at the Jefferson Street Inn.

The program recognizes women who have achieved professional success and have acted as a mentor for others.

Karen Katz of EO Johnson Technologies won this year's ATHENA Leadership Award. Norah Brown of Marathon Savings Bank received the ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award.

"A lot of times these nominees don't even, they don't do the work for the recognition, but they definitely deserve it," said Heather Martell, program and events manager at the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce.

Several past recipients of the ATHENA Award also attended Wednesday's luncheon.

Newsline 9's Daniel Woodruff emceed the event.
