Wausau hires Wausau Center Mall leader

WAUSAU (WAOW) – The one-time general manager of the Wausau Center Mall is Wausau's new economic development manager, a newly created position, Mayor Jim Tipple said Thursday.

Megan Lawrence will be responsible for marketing the city and developing strategies that attract and retain a “healthy mix of business and industry,” the mayor said in a statement.

Lawrence began her new job in late October, he said. Her annual salary will be $61,130, according to the city's human resources department.

As general manager of the Wausau Center Mall, Lawrence handled several duties, including leasing, marketing and attracting new businesses to the mall.

I look forward to helping the city grow,” said Lawrence, a graduate of Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Lawrence has seven years of business development experience in the shopping center industry, according to the mayor's office.
