Merrill drunken-driving trial now set for May

MERRILL (WAOW) – The trial of a Merrill woman accused of nine felonies in an alleged drunken-driving crash that killed two women more than a year ago is now set to begin in May.

Ashley Baumann, 25, is charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle in the crash that killed 33-year-old Jessica Hartwig and 31-year-old Misty Glisch in June 2012.

Baumann and another woman survived the rollover crash.

Last month, Lincoln County Circuit Judge Jay Tlusty granted a request to delay the trial that had been set to start Dec. 13 after prosecutors said a key witness who did the blood tests would be unavailable to testify.

According to online court records, an eight-day trial is now set to start May 5.
