Local jeweler sells gold dipped dog bones

A Wausau jewelry store is getting dog-on-creative. JR Brushert Jewelers in downtown Wausau is selling gold-dipped dog treats for ornaments.

They say it's to raise money for the Marathon County Humane Society. Store owners say it's a three-step process, and the end result is a 24 karat gold dipped dog bone. They say they've collected hundreds of dollars so far.

"My husband and I are very much animal lovers. Dogs especially, but all animals and when we saw the milk bones we knew it was something we had to do for the animal shelter here in marathon county," said store owner Deb Brushert.

Store owners say they sold about 50 golden dog treats so far. They cost $20 each.
