Sources just confirmed with Newsline 9 Sports Director Lauren Magiera
that free-agent quarterback John Skelton is on his way to Green Bay for
a workout with the Packers.
Skelton was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft, starting in 17 games over three seasons before being released. The journeyman quarterback was released by the Cincinnati Bengals during the final round of training camp cuts. Skelton was then signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, but the team released him in early October.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy just confirmed former Packers quarterback Matt Flynn had a workout with the team on Monday. McCarthy said, Flynn "looks good."
This comes just one week after starter Aaron Rodgers broke his collar bone, and back up quarterback Seneca Wallace injured his groin. Third string quarterback and former Wisconsin Badger Scott Tolzien has been named the starter for Sunday against the New York Giants.
