Posted:
ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that the Packers have signed free agent quarterback Matt Flynn following a workout with the team on Monday.

In Mike McCarthy's Monday press conference, he said that Flynn "looked good" during the workout. Sources say that the team wanted evaluate Flynn's elbow to determine the health of his throwing arm.

Flynn's first job in the NFL was as Aaron Rodgers' backup from 2008-2011. In that time Flynn started two games, in one of those games he set franchise records. Against the Lions in 2011, Flynn passed for 480 yards and six touchdowns. Flynn has played for the Seahawks, Raiders and Bills since leaving the Packers.

In the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Eagles, backup quarterback Seneca Wallace injured his groin. Former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Scott Tolzien stepped in to finish the game. Following the loss, McCarthy named Tolzien the starter for this Sunday's game against the Giants.

A source confirmed to Newsline 9 Sports Director Lauren Magiera that free agent quarterback John Skelton was on his way to Green Bay on Monday to have a workout with the team on Tuesday.

The signing of Flynn and workout with Skelton leaves Seneca Wallace's future in Green Bay uncertain.

The Packers are trying to survive the absence of Aaron Rodgers, who suffered a broken collarbone in last week's Monday night game against the Bears. In his press conference, McCarthy said that Rodgers is still a few weeks away from returning to the field.
