Marathon County authorities looking for inmate

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The Marathon County jail administrator says inmate Kelly Kloss left the jail for a funeral and never returned.

Kloss was given a furlough and did not return as he was supposed to on Saturday, Nov. 9, according to Jail Administrator Paul Mergendahl.

Authorities tell us law enforcement is actively seeking Kloss and they are investigating possible leads about where he could be.

Wausau police say Kloss, 55, was arrested on suspicion of eighth offense drunken driving after officers were called to a strip club earlier this month.

The incident happened at Showtime on Wausau's north side, according to police reports.

Kloss was charged in Marathon County Circuit Court with felony drunken driving and a judge set his bail at $5,000 cash, according to online records.

His preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 13.

If you have any information about where Kloss might be, you're asked to call the Marathon County Sheriff's Department.
