UPDATE: Crack cocaine, stolen gun found in Wausau home

WAUSAU (WAOW) – The Marathon County Sheriff's Department says crack cocaine packaged for sale and a stolen handgun were seized during a search of a Wausau home that included use of a SWAT team.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on a warrant for delivery of controlled substances following Tuesday's search of a home in the 700 block of Jackson Street, Sheriff Scott Parks said in a statement Wednesday.

The man is also suspected of being a felon in possession of firearms, maintaining a drug trafficking place and possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver, the sheriff said.

"This would be the third time that SWAT has been involved with taking the individual into custody. We are aware of him, we knew that he was involved in the controlled substance trafficking trade and has continued to do business whenever he gets released from the correctional facility," said Parks.

A 32-year-old woman at the home was also arrested, Parks said.

The search seized 62 grams of crack cocaine, the sheriff said.

"All of our investigations will continue because we continue to try to look for other angles that are involved with these particular individuals that were taken into custody. It's a step in the right direction but there's a lot more we need to continue doing," said Parks.

Parks said a handgun recovered the home was reported stolen from another Marathon County home.

"Because of the numerous children that lived in the residence, Marathon County Social Services also assisted in the investigation," the sheriff said.
