Jenny Lindner gets the ball a lot. Enough to be Neillsville's all-time leading scorer after three seasons. So when 22 points in last spring's state semifinal wasn't enough to extend a 54-game winning streak, Lindner wanted to start a new one.
"Now that we realize how many wins we did have. We know that we can do it again. It makes us want to because it was such a big success to our program."
Instead of summer training, a left ankle injury kept her off the court for three months. "It was emotional, I knew it was strong enough that I could have started playing earlier. It was in my head that I just didn't know that I could do what I could do. I thought I would hurt it more and I didn't want to be out for basketball so it was killing me that I had the possibility to hurt it even more now that it was so weak."
The senior is back and healthy, with the goal of having the same season as last year, but with a different ending. A state title.
"It would mean a lot to me because we definitely want to go out with a big bang. We know that it's possible but it's not possible if we don't believe we can. We have to have faith in our team."
