WAUSAU (WAOW) – A 47-year-old hunter who had shot a deer was found dead beneath his tree stand in the Town of Hamburg, the Marathon County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.
A neighbor found Richard Lepak about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Mark Wagers said.
Lepak was hunting alone on his land northwest of Wausau near County Highway F when he died of apparent natural causes, Wagers said.
“It looked like he just shot a deer,” Wagers said. “He was just found on the ground near his tree stand.”
Cool and dry, then snow returning Thursday night with several inches. Another storm by late Saturday.
