Local roads look clear during holiday travel rush

This is one of the busiest travel days of the year as people head out to make it home for Thanksgiving.

Throughout the country, Americans will travel more than 43 million miles for Thanksgiving this year, that's according to AAA. About 90 percent of those travelers are driving. Wisconsin state patrol officers are boosting patrol for the holiday weekend, and have some tips to keep the roads safe.

"Slow down, have a good distance of space between you and the other driver. Also, have a driving plan in place. Notify the people at you're destination when you're leaving so they know when to expect you," said Sgt. Bryan Wyrcha.

More than 3 million people will be flying for the holiday. At Central Wisconsin Airport, the airport manager says things have been running smoothly Wednesday with no major delays or cancellations.
