WAUSAU (WAOW) – Wausau police say a driver who stepped on the accelerator instead of the brakes caused a chain-reaction crash that damaged five vehicles in the parking lot of a north side business Monday.
The driver of a car was worried about a head-on collision with another vehicle as the car rounded a corner in the parking lot at Mills Fleet Farm, Lt. Mike Juedes said. The driver wanted to stop but instead lurched the car into a parked pickup truck, hitting it with enough force to slide it into the other parked vehicles, Juedes said.
An older woman who got trapped in one of the parked vehicles because they were sandwiched together was treated and released at a hospital, Juedes said.
No other details about the driver of the car who triggered the crash were immediately available, Juedes said.
