Christmas tree sales begin

Christmas is only weeks away. For some, finding that perfect tree is a must.

“That's what makes Christmas is a real Christmas tree," said Josh Schufelt of Wausau. He's just starting to look.

“My girlfriend's from Minnesota and she's never had a real Christmas tree,” said Schufelt. “So I thought change it up for her this year and get her a real one instead of a fake one."

“A lot of people like natural trees, a lot of people are going back to them," said Ron Duranceau, the stand's supervisor.

Salzman's has already sold dozens of trees since opening Sunday. They're grown in Wisconsin Rapids and shipped to Wausau.

“You want tall, skinny, fat, and go through and pick tall, skinny, fat," said Duranceau.

But for some, it's all about that holiday feeling.

“I like the smell and it feels a lot homier when you got that," said Schufelt.

"You come here you pick the perfect tree,” said Duranceau. “When you take it home and put it in your living room it's the perfect tree."

Salzman's has already sold 50 trees. The stand is open until 9 p.m. every night for the rest of the Christmas season.
