Homeless cat may get forever home

Volunteers at the Lincoln County Humane Society in Merrill are raising money to send a cat to an animal sanctuary in Utah.

"In July a cat showed up at our shelter with one eye gouged out and the other hurt. We named him Tiresias. He's not completely blind but his vision is impaired, said shelter director  Liz Friedenfels.

Later, Friedenfels said the cat was diagnosed with feline leukemia so it cannot be housed in the shelter.

A volunteer currently keeps Tiresias in her home.

A Utah animal sanctuary has agreed to take in Tiresias. But Friedenfels said he must be accompanied by a chaperone.

Friedenfels said they still have to raise about one-thousand dollars to cover those costs.
