Wisconsin Rapids teen hit by mini-van

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) – The Wisconsin Rapids Police Department says a 13-year-old girl was hit by a mini-van Friday as she crossed a street in a residential neighborhood.

The girl was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Todd Snyder said.

The accident happened about 6:50 a.m. on West Grand Avenue near 15th Avenue, Snyder said in a statement.

The girl lived near the area but it was unclear Friday what she was doing crossing the street at that hour and not using a crosswalk, Snyder said. She was not on her way to school, he said.

The driver of the mini-van was an adult, he said, but no other details were immediately released.
