Wausau police catch burglary suspects

Wausau police have arrested two suspects in a string of home burglaries.

Rocky Noah, 25, and Darryl Wood, 26, were arrested Friday afternoon, according to Detective Captain Greg Hagenbucher.

Police say they received a tip the suspects were staying at a house on the 600 block of Steuben Street. As they left the house around 12:30 p.m., the men tried to run away, Hagenbucher said, but police caught them and arrested them.

A third man, Ivan Villaseca, 18, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and possessing stolen property, Hagenbucher said.

The three burglaries had occurred on Wausau's east side during the past 10 days.

Investigators told Newsline 9 the back door of each of the homes was forced open, shades inside were pulled down, and the homes were ransacked.

The thieves "spent a considerable amount of time going through every cabinet, every drawer, and even the attics," apparently in a search for money or items that could be converted to cash, Hagenbucher said Wednesday.

The three men arrested were taken to jail.
