Gingerbread house in Stevens Point

Staff members at a Stevens Point hotel have created a holiday display featuring a gingerbread house.

"It measures 6 feel tall, weighs about 550 pounds. As far as the ingredients go it is made of 52 pounds of cutter, 5 gallons of corn syrup, 48 pounds of brown sugar, 165 pounds of flour and there is the frosting which is made of more than 100 pounds of confectioners' sugar and over 300 egg whites," said Michelle Sedlak a regional manager for the hotel.

Sedlak said the maintenance crews make the frame and then the culinary staff does the baking and decorating.

Housekeeping staff also get involved by decorating the platform and others areas in the lobby, said Sedlak.

In addition, front desk staff will act as tour guides when visitors stop by to see the display.

Organizers say it is open to the public until January 3.
