Indoor Activities to Beat the Cold

The arctic blast sweeping down through the Midwest may be keeping people indoors for quite awhile. However, there are plenty of fun activities to do inside to beat the cold.

In our area, indoor ice rinks offer a warm escape that still gives a wintertime feel. Visitors can go to Marathon Park for open skate on Sunday and weekday afternoons and Wednesday evenings.

A better option is the Logger's Landing Water Park at the Grand Lodge in Rothschild. The lodge always keeps the park area at a toasty 86 degrees. This weekend the lodge is offering a special deal. Everyone who brings in two non-perishable food items will only have to pay $5 to get in.

Water park visitor Margee McCarty said she thinks the cold weather makes pool time feel more special.

"It almost seems better when it's so cold out to do something like this, it's a privilege really," McCarty said.

Other activities include participating in stay at home activities such as knitting or indoor sports like basketball.
