Wausau eye doctor publishes first book

WAUSAU (WAOW) - A Wausau eye doctor has turned into an author.

Raymond Goga held his first book signing in downtown Wausau Wednesday night for his first novel "And the Band Played Nam." It is the story of a young girl who starts an all-girl rock band in the 1960's. The author says he pulled the inspiration for the book from his job.

"A patient came into my office and I started talking to her. When she was 16 years old, she went to Vietnam during the Vietnam war and actually toured a large part of Asia," said Goga.

In the book, the main character crosses paths with music idols of that generation. The novel is available online.
