Working in the cold

The cold temperatures haven't stopped public works employees from doing their jobs.

Wausau Department of Public Works officials were out Thursday fixing a street light. They say the cold weather is brutal, especially on their fingers. But, living in Wisconsin, they say they're used to it, and have developed a plan.

"It's hard to work with your gloves on so we just take turns switching in and out. One guy jumps in the truck and warms up and another jumps out and do some of the work," said Electrical Systems Supervisor Todd Wunch.

Wunch says if the weather gets too extreme his team will set up a tent over their work space and make sure everyone takes breaks.
