WAUSAU (WAOW) -
Workers at Sylvan Hill in Wausau say cold temperatures this weekend meant less people headed to the hill.
The slopes had the same amount opening night on Friday, but Saturday brought only about 100 tubers, when last year there were almost 500. Workers say that school scheduling could be to blame.
"Winter break for the school district was a little later this year because thanksgiving was a little later,” said Karyn Powers, the recreation superintendent. “So I think everything got pushed back, so we actually are having the opportunity to have two opening weekends before the Christmas holiday."
The slopes are opened Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9:30 p.m., and also Saturday and Sunday from 1:30-5 p.m.
