IRON RIVER, Mich. (WAOW) – Northstar Health System says it has signed letters of intent to affiliate with Wausau-based Aspirus.
Leaders expect to finalize the transaction by Jan. 31, according to a statement released Wednesday.
Based in Iron River, Northstar includes a 25-bed hospital, three clinics in Upper Michigan, home health and hospice services, more than 300 employees and more than 70 doctors and mid-level providers in a variety of specialties.
Northstar is Aspirus' fourth hospital partner in Upper Michigan since 2007, President Matthew Heywood said.
“This affiliation will increase our ability to serve the western Upper Peninsula,” he said.
Aspirus has more than 6,000 employees and serves people in 14 Wisconsin counties and the western Upper Peninsula.
