Arrest made in UWSP student's death

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - An arrest has been made in connection to the death of a UWSP student, Stevens Point Police say.

Jordan Peterson, 22, died in November, likely because of a heroin overdose, according to police.

On Wednesday, police said they plan to recommend charges of first degree homicide for Erik Olsen, 26, of Hancock. Police say Olsen is not a UWSP student.

Authorities say Olsen gave the drugs to Peterson the day he died.

The Portage County coroner says toxicology results are in for Peterson, but they still have to be reviewed.

Peterson was found dead in his off-campus home by a roommate.

Olsen is in jail, but he has not been formally charged.
