Donations down for Wausau Salvation Army kettle campaign

Cold weather and a shorter holiday season are being blamed for a drop in donations to the Salvation Army's red kettle campaign.

"Right now, we have raised $92,300. Our goal is to raise $160,000 so we still have a long way to go to reach that amount,"said Lt. Jacob Tripp of the Wausau's Salvation Army.

Tripp said the red kettle campaign is the biggest fundraiser held each year.

"The money is used for our after-school programs for kids, for our feeding program, and to house people in our shelter," said Tripp.

They are still looking for volunteers to ring the bells.
