Local boy collects gifts in memory of friend

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -

A Stevens Point boy is at it again, this time collecting children's Christmas gifts in memory of his friend.

Newsline 9 first introduced you to Noah Lamaide a few years ago when he raised enough money to save his grandmothers house from foreclosure. Now, he's launching another project as part of Noah's Dream Catcher Network.

Earlier this year Lamaide's friend, Joey Miller, died. The boy collapsed from an undetected heart condition. Lamaide says Miller was always there to help him out and he wanted to do something for others during this holiday season.

"I get stuff for Christmas, these guys get stuff for Christmas, but there are a lot of kids out there that don't get anything for Christmas. So, I just figured it be nice if they had something to open because Christmas is all about giving," said Lamaide.

He will be collecting supplies throughout this week and then assembling the Christmas baskets this weekend. Operation Bootstrap, a food pantry in Stevens Point, will be distributing the gifts to families next week.
