Four high school football seniors weren't in class on Wednesday morning, but they had a good excuse.
On Wednesday at the Wausau Country Club in Schofield, they were honored with the 2013 Brockmeyer Scholarships. And Wausau West's Cole Radloff had the added bonus of being named Outstanding Player of the Greater Wausau area, becoming the first Warrior since 2010 to receive the honor.
"It means so much to me. My grandpa played for coach Brockmeyer. He always talked about it while I was growing up," Radloff said.
"How much of a good coach (Brockmeyer) was and how much of an influence he had on him. So it means a lot to me because my grandpa always talked about him. It was something that I've always wanted to win since eighth grade, freshman year since I first heard about the award."
Radloff will receive a $2000 scholarship while his fellow Brockmeyer award winners will get $500 towards their collegiate futures.
