UW-Green Bay chancellor to step down after 5 years

Posted: Updated:

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - The chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay plans to step down in August, saying he plans to return to teaching in the next few years.

Tom Harden announced his intentions Wednesday in an email to school employees. He says the time is right to prepare for his transition from the chancellor position.

He says he notified the UW System of his decision so a search for his replacement could begin immediately. He says he hopes his successor will be named in time to take over for the fall semester.

Harden has been the school's chancellor for five years. Before that he spent nine years as the president of Clayton State University near Atlanta.

Harden used to teach courses such as electronics, industrial technology and hydraulics/pneumatics at Northern Kentucky University.
