UPDATE: Bond set at $100,000 in death of UWSP student

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) - The man arrested in the death of a UWSP student was in Portage County Court Thursday morning.

Erik Olsen, 26, of Hancock is being held on $100,000 cash bond, according to a judge.

Stevens Point Police said they plan to recommend charges of first degree reckless homicide for Olsen.

Police say Olsen is not a UWSP student.

Jordan Peterson, 22, died in November, likely because of a heroin overdose, according to police.

Authorities say Olsen gave the drugs to Peterson the day he died.

Peterson was found dead in his off-campus home by a roommate.

Olsen is in jail, but he has not been formally charged.
