Staying safe on messy roads during winter weather

RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) - Several of inches of snow is expected to fall Thursday night into Friday morning, and that can cause a messy commute in the morning.

Even a small amount snow can make for tough road conditions.

As we get closer to winter, it's important to remember to take it slow on the roads this time of the year. State Patrol has some reminders when hitting the highway.

"Create some distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you,” said Sergeant Travis Wanless. “In case something were to happen to them, you have a decent reaction time and can avoid something if you see them spin out or involved in a crash you have reaction time so you can avoid being involved in something like that."

We have some great tools to track winter like weather that comes our way, be sure to check out the Storm Track Nine app.
