Sheriff: 13-year-old boy drowns in Clark Co.

NEILLSVILLE (WAOW) – A 13-year-boy died Monday when the skid loader he was operating to clear snow from a pond broke through the ice, the Clark County Sheriff's Department said.

The drowning happened in the Township of Hoard, near the intersection of Pesldorf Avenue and Center Road, Capt. James Hirsch said in a statement.

A family member found the victim after the family became concerned and when to look for him about 11:30 a.m., Hirsch said.

The boy, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

No other details were immediately released.
