Wausau family skips the Christmas gifts

WAUSAU (WAOW) - One Wausau family is spending their Christmas a little differently. They wanted to give acts of goodwill instead of presents this year.

The Trask and Engebretson family made reindeer ornaments out of popsicle sticks to give to residents at Wausau Manor, a senior living center. They also spread Christmas spirit by singing.

"This year we decided we didn't want a Christmas tree," said 12-year-old Katelyn Engebretson. "We wanted it to be more about spending time with family."

The parents say this Christmas won't be one that their children will soon forget.

"They'll remember that," said Steph Trask. "They may not remember what their Barbie's hairstyle was this year, but the memories will last forever, as the toy won't."
