Two hurt in u-turn crash near Pittsville

PITTSVILLE (WAOW) – A two-vehicle crash near Pittsville on Thursday injured two men when one driver tried to make a u-turn, the Wood County Sheriff's Department said.

A pickup truck driven by a 73-year-old Nekoosa man began to make a u-turn on state Highway 80 and another southbound vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Babcock man smashed into it, Deputy Charles Hoogesteger said.

The 73-year-old man was taken by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield with undetermined injuries, Hoogesteger said. The other driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash, which happened about 12:30 p.m., closed the highway for two hours.

No other details were immediately released.
