One local church gets a big boost

One local church got a big boost as they work to keep their new thrift store up and running.

Ballweg Toyota presented a check for $20,000 to Saint Vincent de Paul.

The donation is a combined gift of $10,000 from Ballweg Toyota of Wausau and Toyota as part of the automakers dealer match program.

The thrift store opened earlier this month. It's located on Thomas Street. Leaders say the money will help keep the store running.

"We've relied on the past on funding from our parishes and foundations. This thrift store gives us the opportunity to be a self sustained organization and self funding and rely less on other people for our money," said Marty Mullen of Saint Vincent de Paul.

The thrift store provides low priced clothes, furniture and house wares. It's open Monday through Saturday.
