Two Mosinee companies make top ten list of Wisconsin development
MOSINEE (WAOW) -
Two Mosinee companies are in the top ten of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation's biggest job-creating projects of 2013.
The WEDC ranked Mullins Cheese Inc. sixth on the list and Mullins Whey Inc. as tenth.
Mullins Cheese Inc. is in the middle of a $54 million project to expand its plant, which will create 51 jobs.
Mullins Whey Inc. is spending $39 million to enlarge its facility and update its production operation.
"Growth is what we're looking for here," said Mullins Cheese Inc. and Mullins Whey Inc. owner Bill Mullins. "We weren't able to grow because our plants are full. With the new whey operation and new cheese line, we can actually take in more milk, so our business can start to grow again."
WEDC says Mullins Cheese Inc. and Mullins Whey Inc. will receive $930,000 in tax credits from the state for the projects.
