Coach McCarthy: "It's week one for us"

GREEN BAY (WAOW) - From watching tape this week, the Packers are trying to make sure that history doesn't repeat itself.

Three straight losses against San Francisco have given the Green and Gold plenty to improve on. But, there's only so much Green Bay can learn from looking at this year's season opener.

“I think every team is different playoffs compared to week one. You can take some stuff from that game, but teams are trying to figure out their identity. We have different players playing, they have different players playing. We are doing some different things on offense. Eddie's role that day was far different than it is today,” said Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

“When we watched the tape of the first game it was like 'what?' It felt like it was two years ago, so it's two different teams now, so we're just going to build on what we've been doing good and try and correct our errors,” said Packers Nose Tackle Ryan Pickett.

Everyone agrees that this is a very different team now than week one in the regular season. The club has endured so many ups and downs, but now Mike McCarthy says they are treating the post season as a fresh start.

"It's week one for us. We're prepared to play a different level of football," said Coach McCarthy.

The Packers have been practicing outside to prepare and are counting on using the elements to their advantage.

"The ball seems a bit harder and it stings your hands more. We're preparing for the cold by practicing every day outside and that's just part of the preparation," said Packers Wide Receiver Jordy Nelson.

Coach McCarthy says the winner of the game Sunday will come down to whoever digs deeper into their playbook.

"Of course you have to get creative, because it's the playoffs you have to put your best foot forward," said Coach McCarthy.
