GREEN BAY (WAOW) -
If the Packers are going to advance out of the wild card round by beating the 49ers on Sunday, they'll have to figure out Colin Kaepernick.
The 49ers quarterback has destroyed Dom Capers defense in his two starts, setting a playoff rushing record for quarterbacks last January with 181 yards and two scores. And that's in addition to throwing two touchdowns.
Then, when the Packers focused on stopping the read option in the season opener this year, Kaepernick threw for 412 yards, which is still his career high.
He hasn't put up huge numbers against everybody else, but has only thrown one pick during the 49ers six-game winning streak.
“He's playing extremely well. Been durable, been there for every snap, makes the throws when the throws need to be made and he did that again on Sunday,” said 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh.
“You have to be conscious of who you are playing against, what his strengths are; he's a very fast guy, a good athlete to play that position. He has the arm strength to make all the throws, and he's elusive. When you've got the receiving corps, you can have them covered, have them covered; but if he can buy that extra 3-4 seconds by scrambling around, then they uncover,” said Packers Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers.
The game is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Lambeau Field.
