GREEN BAY (AP) -

The Packers and San Francisco 49ers are getting ready for bitter cold during their NFC wild-card game this weekend.

Temperatures are expected to be in the single digits when the teams kick off late Sunday afternoon and drop through the game. It could go down as one of the coldest games in NFL history.

The coldest game on record was the 1967 NFL Championship game at Lambeau Field, also known as the "Ice Bowl." The Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 after temperatures dipped to minus-13. The wind chill was minus-48.

Coach Mike McCarthy says ball security is one priority this week. The footballs get harder to handle the colder it gets.

Even some tough-guy offensive linemen are planning to wear shirts with sleeves this weekend.
