Packers officials urge fans to bundle up on Sunday

The dangerously cold temperatures expected for Sunday's game have many fans layering up.

The wild card match up against the San Francisco 49ers could be one of the coldest games in NFL history.

Packers spokesperson Aaron Popkey says the cold temperatures are a challenge but has faith the green and gold fans will come out and support the team.

"To have some significance attached to it in terms of the cold weather I think it's an opportunity for a lot of fans to say hey, I was there at that game when it was the second coldest game ever at Lambeau, or the coldest in NFL history. That's part of the lure of Lambeau," said Popkey.

Popkey says from now until kickoff stadium crews will be getting everything ready and safe for when the more than 70,000 descend upon Titletown.

"We're inside the stadium with snow removal, ice removal and laying down snow melt and ice melt on the ground making sure walk ways are safe. Stadium staff and EMS will be keeping their eye on the cold weather conditions," said Popkey

In addition, Mills Fleet Farm will be handing out about 70,000 hand warmers. Popkey says extra EMS staff will also be on hand.
