Gov. Walker announces Leo Frigo Bridge to open Sunday

GREEN BAY (WAOW) - Governor Scott Walker announced Friday that the Leo Frigo Bridge in Green Bay will reopen on Sunday, Jan 5. That's 12 days earlier than expected.

The bridge was closed on Sept. 25 of last year, when one of the piers sank. Engineers found out that soil conditions contributed to some corrosion.

Our top priority from the start has been to get this critical part of the state’s transportation infrastructure fixed and back in service in a safe and timely manner,” Governor Walker said. “I would like to thank the outstanding team of workers, contractors, and local officials for your remarkable job in getting this project completed ahead of schedule.”

The bridge is opening just in time, as the Packers take on the 49ers at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Many fans use the bridge to get to the stadium on game day.
