Children find ways to stay safe in arctic blast

WAUSAU (WAOW) - With schools in central Wisconsin closed from the cold weather, children are finding other things to do.

The Boys and Girls Club in Wausau was opened Monday. Regular activities were available including breakfast and lunch. Directors say they expected fewer children given the extreme cold.

"We're not encouraging kids to come if they can't get a ride,” said Brian Stezenski-Williams, the executive director. “So we don't want them walking in the cold because it is pretty nippy out there."

The Boys and Girls Club will also open Tuesday for children who are again home because of no school.
