My dog Wrigley and his friend Walter seem to enjoy these cold weather conditions, but as I head out ice fishing with avid outdoorsman Ben Michlig, we're a little more careful.
"It's borderline almost too cold to go, but as long as you have the right equipment, the right gear and the right clothes also if you're close by a house or a cabin then it's no big deal."
Michlig says weather conditions rarely slow him down.
"I try to get out almost every night or every day for prime time. Despite the cold weather, it's actually been really good. As long as you can stay warm and fish effectively, it's not too bad."
Watching the dogs play keep away with the fish we did catch, showed we weren't much different. We're all just out here to have a good time.
"The colder weather just affects the human aspect of it, it's nice getting out here regardless of the temperature."
