United Way reaching out to community

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) - The United Way of Marshfield is asking for the community's help to reach it's fundraising goal for the year.

Their donation drive started in September and ends on Monday January 13. Organizers say they're goal is to raise $900,000 to help fund the community's needs.

United Way leaders say they're about $20,000 short of their goal for two reasons.

"Between the two of them, the shortfall of the campaign and the increase of the need it really brings it to the forefront I guess in the community to try and just dig a little deeper if we can," said United Way drive co-chair Sharon Helwig.

United Way leaders say they're hopeful they will reach their goal. They say the money helps fund more than 30 agencies in the area.
