Snow plow drivers hit the roads ahead of the storm
STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -
plow drivers certainly had their work cut out for them Tuesday
morning. In Stevens Point plow drivers hit the roads early to get
ahead of the storm.
Zygarlicke, a plow driver in Stevens Point says he will usually clear
more than 100 driveways and parking lots before the day is done.
Zygarlicke says when the snow hits, especially this heavy, wet snow,
he knows he's in for a long day.
get a lot of stuff ready the day before, I make sure I have salt on
hand and get some sleep because you never know how long it's going to
be," Zygarlicke said. "The biggest thing is to get people in and
out safely so they don't slip and fall and so the snow doesn't pack
down so you're not trying to scrape it off the next day and it's that
much less salt you have to use."
higher temperatures the past few days caused a lot of existing snow
to melt. Zygarlicke said that did cause him and other members of his
crew to battle some black. But, he said, they had extra salt on hand
to get the job done.
