School bus slides off rural Marathon Co. road

MARATHON CO. (WAOW) - A school bus had to be pulled out of a ditch Wednesday morning in Marathon County.

Maurice Harris, a spokesman for First Student in Cincinnati, said the bus went into the ditch on County Road Z about 6:30 a.m. before any D.C. Everest School Districts students had been picked up.

The driver was not hurt and it wasn't immediately known what happened, other than winter weather can create challenges for drivers, Harris said in a telephone interview.

We now will review the incident to understand all the details,” he said.

The Wausau area received about 7 inches of snow Tuesday and many rural roads had icy spots Wednesday morning.
