Pond hockey tournament continues

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Hockey players were back on the ice Saturday at Sunny Vale Lake in Wausau.

The Midwest Freeze Pond Hockey Tournament continued with more match ups. There are twelve rinks set up for games. Players from across the Midwest competed on the ice.

Guest professional hockey player Bret Hedican also participated.

Organizers say the event gets bigger every year.

"We basically just about sold out this year with the number and we're pretty pleased with the number of teams we have,” said Richard Barrett, the director of sales. “We've grown at a nice pace every year about 30 to 50 percent a year."

The tournament continues until Sunday, when division champions will be announced.
